Travel Itinerary

 

 

Day 01: Arrival to San José, Costa Rica. Private transfer to hotel.

Arrival at the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Then, you will be transferred to your hotel in San Jose – approximately 20 minutes driving distance.

Stay: 1 night.

Hotel: Urban Green or Similar 

Room: Standard. Breakfast included.

A representative will meet and greet you upon your arrival and will provide you with all the necessary documentation you will need during your vacation, such as vouchers, day-by-day itinerary, main contact information and phone numbers. 

 

 

Day 2. San Jose, Costa Rica. One Day Tour: Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfalls, Coffee Plantation, Butterfly Farm

Departure: 06:20 am approx 

Return: 5:30pm approx. 

Tour Description To get to the different attractions included during this excursion we will drive by the city of Alajuela passing by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park.

As we ascend towards the Poas Volcano we will notice the change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful landscape. The Poas Volcano remains closed by the government in a preventive manner. This tour covers the area near it, but do not visit the volcano.

We will visit Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and a coffee tour, in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn about the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce one of the best coffees in Costa Rica. Learn about the careful process involved on the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean.

Following, we will continue to La Paz Waterfall Garden for lunch and tour. On arrival to the La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit.

Tour includes: Transportation, guide, Entrance fee to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Entrance fee to Coffee tour, breakfast, lunch.

Day 3. Tortuguero National Park

Expedition: Tortuguero 3 days 2 nights.

Full Board Plan: Meals, land and boat transportation, lodging and tours. 

Breakfast served on route to the Tortuguero National Park

Stay: 2 nights.

Hotel: Pachira, Laguna or Mawamba. 

Departure: 6:00am

Note: Tortuguero National Park is considered the Amazon of Costa Rica. There exist no roads to get there; consequently, the final part of the journey will be by boat.

Includes: 3 days and 2 night stay, expert local guide, transportation to and from the park, complete meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), an excursion throughout the canals, to the Tortuguero National Park (including exploring by boat within the park via the canals and waterways, trail walks, hotel accommodations, and all taxes.

Not Included: Entrance to Tortuguero National Park is $15 per person. Alcoholic beverages or bottled water. Does not include the turtle nesting tour; paid directly in Tortuguero.

Day 5. Puerto Viejo – Southern Caribbean.

After breakfast, shared boat transfer back to Caño Blanco where the trip will continue by bus. Lunch included in El Ceibo Restaurant or similar.

Stay: 3 nights

Hotel: Cariblue, Terrazas del Caribe or similar.

Day 6. Puerto Viejo – Southern Caribbean.

Breakfast

Tour: Cahuita National Park Snorkeling and Hiking Tour.

Departure: 09:00am

Duration: 6 hours approx.

Snorkeling

This tour is done in a 12-person boat, with a captain and guide, around the Cahuita National Park. It is the first place in the world where in each square meter there is more biodiversity of different ecosystems on the land and in the ocean. Here, we will go snorkeling for about two hours in the most important Coral Reef of Costa Rica observing: 35 different species of coral, 123 species of tropical fish, 3 species of sharks, 6 species of eels, 3 species of sea urchins, 140 of shellfish, 44 crustaceans, 128 types of algae, sea turtles, sea cucumbers, ocean sponges, lobster, shrimp, among others. The snorkeling equipment will be provided for you (mask, fins and snorkel tube).

Hiking

After Snorkeling, we will provide you with a tropical fruit-based snack and bottles water, after which we will begin the second part of the tour, which is: hiking with trail interpretation. The guide will take you to different points between Cahuita Point and the town of Cahuita (5 km) observing various types of snakes (boas, bocaraca, bush master, eyelash vipers, etc.), sloths, white faced and howler monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, raccoons, blue morpho butterflies among others, birds and many more things such as: medicinal plants, orchids, trees, ferns, vertebrates, invertebrates, sea and earth shellfish, etc.

Includes: Fruit based snack, Snorkeling equipment, bilingual guide, lunch, round-trip transportation from your hotel, hike through the National Park and bottled water.
